Research projects

Gwen Isaac

Gwen Isaac is a documentary filmmaker with two research projects in development and production in 2022. One is a feature film based on the wild ride of Dr Siouxsie Wiles, the pink-haired scientist who has guided Aotearoa through the pandemic. Gwen鈥檚 short documentary Siouxsie & the Virus (2020) received multiple awards and led to support from New Zealand Film Commission and Massey towards a feature.

Catherine Hoad and Oli Wilson

Dr Catherine Hoad and Associate Professor Dr Oli Wilson have recently conducted research into diversity in the music industry, the first of its kind in New Zealand. Amplify Aotearoa: NZ Music Community Diversity Survey report was developed by Catherine and Oli in partnership with APRA AMCOS New Zealand.

Their survey collected quantitative and qualitative data with two key aims 鈥撀爐o find out more:

  • detailed demographic information about the music community
  • about the challenges people are facing.

Bridget Johnson, Jon He and Blake Johnston

Bridget Johnson, Jon He, and Blake Johnston鈥檚 collective research explores new applications of music technology in spatialised sound installations. Their recent work, Inhabitants, is a collection of sound machines inspired by the unique garden ecosystem of The Heart at Marina One, Singapore.聽
